The photographs capture portraits of many of Italy’s most celebrated buildings and places from the Italian Renaissance and Baroque, seen through the eyes of an architect. Presented as an architectural and pho- tographic tour, the publication begins with a survey of Venice’s architectural masterpieces, continues through the Veneto, Florence and Rome and concludes in Ita- ly’s south with examples of Sicily’s spectacular Baroque masterworks. The book includes a foreword by Jaynie Anderson, Emeritus Professor of Art at the University of Melbourne and a leading expert on Italian Renaissance art and architecture. An introduction by the author re- counts how he first became acquainted with these Italian architects and their works, how his photography skills de- veloped and how his study of these buildings continues to inspire and influence his work as an architect. Designed by Yanni Florence, the publication is presented in large format, highlighting the colours, formal compositions and strong Italian light in each of the images.Corbett Lyon is a Melbourne-based architect, art collector, and musician with a passion for photography and the architecture of the Italian Baroque and Renaissance.
